If you delve into the history of the feminist movement, you will find out that the first summer school on gender studies was held in 1997. One of the first street actions was organized by anarcho-feminists in 2010. Other notable events were the three-year seminar “Gender, Sexuality and Power” and the marches of the Feminist Opposition, organized jointly with activists from other initiatives. It should be noted that such marches are becoming a tradition around the world. In recent years, direct action campaigns have gained a lot of media coverage. Local feminist events are held in big cities: movie screenings, lectures, etc.

Our event will be attended by 50 feminists from different states, representing different areas of feminism, with different experiences, as well as researchers, representatives of NGOs, students, and activists who do not belong to registered organizations. The format was chosen to allow for maximum participation in personal discussions and reflections on the internal and external challenges facing feminism, as well as in general discussions and thematic workshops, mini-discussions, and master classes.

In essence, there will be an intergenerational dialog: women who have just begun to identify themselves as feminists will join the event, as well as those who have been in this movement for almost twenty years. The concept of the event involves a lot of live communication to exchange experiences between academic feminism and grassroots activism. In fact, conditions were created for the participants, in which those who do not communicate in the online space due to the polar opposite of opinions began to enter into a dialogue and voice their position.

After the participants got acquainted, the breakout sessions began. The workshop “Nonviolent Communication” will take place. The lecturer, who is also a social worker, will tell that Marshall Rosenberg was the first to talk about non-violent communication, that is, the conscious use of language and the recognition of one’s needs. The workshop participants will talk about their own experience of urban communication and do practical exercises. Panel presentations and discussions will follow.
